CONCERT FOR A FLAG WITH A BAG
2018
A musical and choreographic performance based on songs by Pavel Artemyev
The Gogol Center, Moscow
The performance and show were inspired by the musical album "Kanoon Kontsa Nachala" ("The Eve of the End and Beginning") by Artemiev. This contemporary ballet, choreographed by Savva Saveliev and Igor Sharoyko, was performed only once. It featured live music, thirty performers, and a band on stage—a manifesto of freedom and peace.

The Artemiev project, led by former "Korni" band vocalist Pavel Artemiev, presented the program "Kanoon Kontsa Nachala: A Concert for the Flag with a Bag" at the Gogol Center stage on March 29, 2018. According to the organizers, that evening, the ensemble was joined by string and wind sections, with Savva Saveliev directing the performance. The program was based on Artemiev's album "Kanoon Nachala Kontsa," essentially transforming the album into a theatrical piece created around its music.

"As in the best stories," Pavel Artemiev explained, "the narrative is more driven by the music than by lyrics—it's more emotional, rooted in feelings. But, of course, like any good story, it features a lyrical hero, with whom one can try to navigate the path of growing up, awareness, and searching for God. I believe I was trying to answer these questions in dialogue with myself. Whether this story has a good ending, I honestly don’t know yet."

Alongside Pavel Artemiev and his ensemble, students from Gogol School participated in the program. According to the director, they together with the musicians told a story of love.
