"Amphorae, vases, jugs — these are the vessels of the past. For centuries, archaeologists have raised them from the bowels of the Earth, from the seabed, studying the history of civilization through them. These vessels are millennia old. They are immortal.
Polyethylene and cellophane bags — these are the vessels of the present. Humanity's daily companions. The amphorae of our time. I immortalize them in ceramics.
I admire the elegance of a white plastic bag, its airiness. In thousands of years, we will be gone. But a bag rendered in ceramic, like its ancestors — the amphorae and vases — will find its way into the hands of future people. And we will be remembered."
