On the 100th anniversary of the publication of Maxim Gorky's "Untimely Thoughts."
The Pashkov House, Moscow
Celebrating the centennial of Maxim Gorky's "Untimely Thoughts," the award ceremony honoring Russia’s finest writers took on a profound significance. This event was a tribute to the timeless relevance of Gorky's work, marking one hundred years since its publication. Students from the Moscow Art Theatre School Studio, Brusnikin’s workshop, brought to life select fragments of Gorky's texts—exploring themes of war, imprisonment, religion, and freedom—with poignant performances. The ceremony’s heartbeat was a mighty drum, symbolically counting the minutes and decades of the turbulent 20th century. Gorky's poetry projected onto screens, rhythmically aligned with the drum’s pulse, creating an immersive experience that resonated deeply with all in attendance.
