A psychological installation portraying a paradoxical story of the modern individual.
Moscow, The Praktika Theatre, Bolshoy Kozikhinsky Lane 30
Two Plays in One: two distinct worlds separated by a white wall, a reality drawn from Kafka’s own books. Policing authorities, dancing horses, a woman smoking amidst strange couriers and a multitude of questions—who are you? What do you seek? What do you truly need?
This is a paradoxical story about a modern urban inhabitant and their complex relationship with the world. A performance exploring a multifaceted and unpredictable reality, where the protagonist is forced to abandon familiar perspectives, rethink their habitual perceptions of life and everyday routine. Extreme situations and a pervasive sense of vulnerability disrupt the peaceful flow of ordinary days, compelling a shift into a different, more profound form of communication with reality.
Marina Brusnikina’s play is a space of experimentation—a forging of new neural connections—where the audience becomes an object of exploration as well. The two plays by Dmitry Danilov are performed simultaneously on the Main and Small Stages of Teatr Praktika. Upon entering the theatre, audiences are randomly assigned to different halls, and after the intermission, they switch and meet the other storyline. Thus, the plays engage in a dialogue, intertwining and continuing each other, painting a picture of a world governed by absurd laws but unmistakably echoing real life.
If you are planning to attend the performance with a partner or in a larger group, we recommend informing the staff and splitting up to different halls—then, after the show, you’ll have the chance to compare your impressions.
This production was made possible with support from Moscow’s Department of Culture (the “Open Stage” project) and the Intellectual Lecture Club “418.” Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes, including one intermission.
